Now, on to finding out a little more about Lena Sayer! The Eldest of the ... odd cousins! And all by answering a few questions from the tour!
1. Who IS this character? What is her/his name, and is he/she fictional or a historic person?
Lena Sayer, (whose real first name is Morelina. Yeah, ouch!) is completely fictional. After all, who would name their kid Morelina? Sounds kind of like the name of a wicked witch or evil sorceress, doesn't it?
2. When and where is the story set?
The story takes place in Clear Creek, Oregon in the year 1861.
A day dress from the early 1860's.
A good representation of what the Sayer sisters may have worn, before sucumbing to more practical attire for prairie life.
3. What should we know about him/her?
Okay, here is where it gets fun ... Lena believes you shouldn't kill anything! She'd have rescued that big spider from August (Prairie Grooms, Book One) and probably would have found the dear little guy (oh wait, he wasn't that little, was he?) a new home! She's articulate and very good at talking, when she wants to. In private she longs to be an actress or orator, but such occupations are not fit for ladies. She's a free spirit, and often got her sisters to perform small plays in secret, just the three of them, ones that she of course, wrote.
More suitable attire for prairie life.
4. What is the main conflict? What messes up his/or her life?
Simply put, she's a Sayer, and no one in their right (or even a drunken stupor) state of mind will go any where near a woman with that family name. Rumor is they have a curse upon them, and bad things happen to any and all men who try to court them. So alas, they are sent to America as mail order brides by their cousin the Duke of Stantham, (Duncan Cooke) who figures he can marry them off to some of the men of Clear Creek, where the Sayer "curse" cannot follow. Desperate for a husband, she and her sisters agree. But during the long journey from England to American, Lena begins to think, and notices she's not as comfortable with the idea as she thought. But why? You'll have to read the story to find out ...
5. What is the personal goal of the character?
To marry, of course. A good man of character, one who is forthright. But even a good character, cannot guarantee there will be love ...
6. Is there a working title, and can we read more about it?
The title is Chase (Prairie Groom, Book Four). As to reading more about it, you can read the whole thing! As it releases very soon!
7. When can we expect the book to be published?
Wednesday, August 27th! See, I told you it was soon!!!
